Seeing-eye cat narrowly avoids grisly train death
Three year old Siamese seeing-eye cat, Kitty-Kitty, narrowly escaped the grisly fate of his owner today when the allegedly blind man, Cal Thompson, was obliterated by a light rail train at the Sherwood Road railroad crossing. Witnesses say the cat came within inches of the killer train, led there, they say, by an irresponsible, blind owner.
“The guy just came out of nowhere,” said train driver Ralph Emerson. “He was shuffling along, you know, he had one of those white canes. All I remember now is the blood, oh God the blood, and how that cat looked so brave when he was covered in it.”
Witness Kay Lamington, of Oxley, was on the opposite side of the road when the alleged accident occurred. “I couldn’t believe what I was seeing. It was blood and gore, guts and brains everywhere. But when that poor blood soaked kitty looked up at me and purred, I just could’t resist taking him home.”
Security camera footage shows the brave feline leaping out of the way of the train in an apparently desperate bid to lead the man to safety. “It’s almost as if the cat knew what was happening,” said Detective Nate Bromley.
The RSPCA issued a blanket statement decrying the enslavement of cats to work as guides for the blind. “We could have told you this would happen,” said chairwoman Elizabeth Hampstead. “This is why we screen applicants. There will be no further adoptions to the blind. One terrified cat is enough.”
A Go Fund Me page has been set up for Kitty-Kitty’s future needs. A total of $25,327 of $50,000 has been raised so far.
